Dinner & A Movie: 14 Days of Love 7

Love Quote

K~Drama Quotes from Angel Eyes

It’s Saturday night and it’s date night # 7. Right after I press publish, we will be taken our date night to real life and hitting the nearest dance floor so I can bust a few moves.  To get my night started, SISTAR ft Geek is getting the party jumping with my favorite song, The Way You Make Me Melt.

This night we are having my favorite Asian Cuisine, Chinese!!! {does my signature happy food dance} We decided to share our favorite “finger” food dishes with you all. This is the meal we actually cook at home the most. Simply delish especially the Chinese Marbled Tea Eggs from the Appetite For China blog.  Whenever we do cook Chinese at home, the BBQ Spareribs are always included either as the main course or a side dish. I have tried a few recipes from different blogs but my favorite are also from Appetite For China.  I am not a soup type of girl unless it’s chicken noodle soup or Broccoli & Cheese but I we recently added our meal, the Water Chestnut Pear Soup from YZenith Authentic Chinese Recipes.  My favorite beer to go with this meal is Heineken beer. It may not be a usual to go with Chinese but it’s good choice to go with the dessert, Fried Milk Custard from Red Cook.

I have thought about this movie off and on since I started watching Korean dramas and movies almost 2 years ago. It’s the 1999 S. Korean movie, White Valentine.

Storyline

A girl named Jung-min writes to a young man named Hyun-jun, who is serving in the army. She lies about her age and claims to be a teacher. As Jung-min turns twenty, a 30-year-old man, who has eyes filled with sadness moves into her village. Every night, he sends letters through a pigeon to a deceased woman he loved dearly. He sends them high up in the sky, knowing that he will never get a reply. Then one day, like magic, he receives a letter. The letters sent through pigeons reveal someone’s loneliness and sadness. And the two people meet each other by sheer chance… IMDb

My Thoughts

This was a very beautiful romantic story. It’s not a very strong plot but it’s full of emotions and substance. Seeing Jun Ji Hyun in her first acting role was a delight.  It’s not a movie for everyone but for those who enjoy a beautiful love story, it’s a must see.

( FYI: All the meals included in the Dinner & a Movie posts, we have eaten either at a restaurant or we have cooked at home as is or in different variations. The pictures are just for show as to give you an idea and are owned by either the specified blog where the recipe is located or a restaurant)
